Support

Artwork Tips And Advice.

If Supplying High Res PDF

We prefer artwork to be supplied in high-resolution PDF format. We require PDF/X-1a pdf' where all pages are separate pages (not spreads) with 3mm bleed to all of the edges. The pages need to be supplied in the correct order.

By creating a PDF/X-1a pdf it should conform to the below standards:

Images

Colour Images - minimum 300dpi CMYK, Line art - minimum 1200dpi.

Bleed

Please ensure there is 3mm bleed all round the PDF, it is also important that the tick marks are offset 3mm so that they are not in the bleed and that the artwork is centered on the page.

Fonts

All fonts need to be embedded into the PDF.

Colours

B&W printing - all images and text should be greyscale 4 colour process - all images and text should be CMYK Spot colour printing - Set up colours as Pantone references

General Tips And Advice

CMYK not RGB

Please ensure that all embedded images are CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) files. RGB images may look great on your screen but final output to print is always in CMYK.

Microsoft Office Files

We have a surcharge to cover the additional time needed to convert these to pdfs. It is always a help to have a printed copy to check when printing from any Office application.

Imposition

Please do not supply imposed pages or "printers pairs" our workflow includes imposition software.

Proofing

We always recommend you checking and signing off a proof and it is included in the price of the job. You can have a printed proof or a we can email you a pdf depending on your time frame. The proofs are produced on either the digital press for digital jobs or our high-end colour, inkjet printer which has been profiled to our litho press.

Sending artwork via MailbigFile.com

We now offer our customers an easy to use file delivery system. There is no software to install and configure just Zip or Stuff your files into one .zip or .sit file. The maximum file size is 2 gigabytes and once the upload is complete and we have retrieved the file from the server you will receive a confirmation email. We can also accept artwork via email up to a maximum of 20mb or you can post us a CD or DVD.

Paper Sizes

The ISO paper size A standard is based on each size being half of the size of the previous one. B and SR sizes allow printers room on the sheet for tick and registration marks and colour bars, C sizes are envelope sizes.
