Variable data, personalised printing
Variable-data printing is also known as personalised printing. It is a form of on-demand printing in which elements such as text, graphics and images may be changed from one printed piece to the next. One of the most popular formats of variable printing are letters or postcards. These each have the same basic layout and can be printed with a different name and address on each letter. Variable printing is mainly used for direct marketing, advertising, brochures or postcard campaigns but we also use this technology to print self adhesive address labels and scratch cards.
There are several levels of variable printing.
The most basic level involves changing the name and address on each copy. More advanced personalised printing uses ‘versioning’. This involves customisation for different markets, with text and images changing for different groups of customers. Using this technology we can produce versions which feature various products and languages all from a single piece of artwork.
The success rate of personalised printing is much higher than conventional direct mail. With some clients they have seen a conversion rate of up to 15%. The technique is an effective tool for increasing the return on your next marketing campaigns.
